Course information

This course consists of ONE 60 credit university module that is awarded by Teesside University (University Module Code PHY1013-N).

The course is delivered at THE Centre, 33 The Parade, Cardiff CF24 3AD normally runs alongside the academic year.  The mode of delivery is 8 days plus an examination day spread over approximately a 6 month period. Successful completion of the Module results in the award, University Certificate of Advanced Professional Development (UCAPD) Massage in a Sports Environment.

Students of physiotherapy wishing to complete PART C at weekends can contact SPS to arrange suitable completion dates.

The course structure:

Part A - 2 days core skills, Part B - 2 days core skills & Part C - 5 Days application of skills and examinations.  Please note that Part A & B can be studied alone for those wishing to learn or revist their skills.

The programme includes all the core elements required by the Professional Body - Effleurage, Petrissgae, Tapotement, Vibrations, Dermal Lifting, Frictions, Passive Stretching & Compressions.  In total 33 different handskills will be introduced under the methods outlined and applied in a sporting context. More advanced soft tissue techniques including Specific Stretch/STR, Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Techniques can also be studied for details see CPD Courses. This programme of education has been mapped to National Occupational Standards (NOS)

Cost

Cost £900 + VAT (£1080.00).  You can use Paypal to pay the £380.00 deposit, alternatively send a cheque for £380.00 with application to SPS Ltd, 33 The Parade, Cardiff, CF24 3AD and pay the balance in 2 installments.
